Blessed with a magical ring, Tommy didn't realize his wishes needed to be specific. He wanted superheroes to be real. While the ring did indeed give him the powers he asked for, he failed to realize that heroes are only needed to fight villains. To his shock and horror, he could only watch as his best friend's mother delighted in the mass being added to her new evil frame.
