When Donna Troy was a child, Wonder Woman used the Amazon's Purple Ray to grant her a fraction of her own powers so that she could become the original Wonder Girl.
But Donna is no longer a girl. Now, she is a grown woman, and as such, the Amazons decided it was time for her to be put under the Purple Ray a second time, so that her powers and body could be boosted to fully match those of her mentor.
As you can see, the results speak for themselves!
