'Those idiots!' thought Esther as she continued to work late into the night. 'They don't understand... The human body is capable of so much! All it needs is the right push... just enough stimulation to develop into all that it was meant to be!' She continued to blend various chemicals together, a few of them fluorescing slightly in the dim light. 'Morons... 'Too dangerous,' they said! 'Unethical,' they called it. My project is completely safe! Of course it requires human experimentation! It's human augmentation! And it's not like what I proposed was dangerous. Seriously, what could go wrong with improving the strength and endurance of the human body?'
As her internal ranting continued, the flask she was stirring began to glow brighter and brighter. She stopped blending the chemicals as the substance took on a pinkish hue, rosy light falling gently onto the table. 'Well, if they won't grant me the resources I need, then I'll have to make due with what I have.' With barely a thought to the consequences, she downed the chemical concoction, shuddering slightly at the bitter taste that it left in her mouth.
Moments passed and nothing happened.
Just as the first pangs of disappointment threatened to overwhelm Esther, she began to feel something else. An insistent thrumming from somewhere deep within her. Confused at first, it quickly dawned on her that the formula that she had slaved over was actually working!
The humming that she felt gradually gave way to a throbbing sensation, pulses racing across her small figure. With each passing second, the sensation grew stronger... so much stronger...
Esther let out a sharp grunt as the sensations crossed the threshold into pain. It felt like every muscle in her body was contracting again and again, like a never-ending series of muscle cramps. Her breathing laboured, she tried to endure the pain wracking her body.
Moaning slightly, Esther began to notice a new sensation through the fog of pain. A tightness, but not coming from her body. No, it felt more like...
'I'm growing!' she thought. Through eyes squinted in agony, she looked at her body, seeing clothes that were gradually getting tighter across her frame. Slowly the sleeves were pulling taut. Her shirt was pulling tight across her back and chest. She could feel her legs beginning to press into the fabric of her pants. She could feel it. She could feel her body swelling, changing into something new.
'I don't believe it!' she thought to herself as she continued to expand, 'I thought that this would result in an increase in strength over time... nothing like this!'
As her clothes continued to constrict her swelling flesh, the pain continued to intensify. Her grunts were coming out more forcefully, her voice slowly getting louder as the pain began reaching a crescendo.
'OH, GAWD!!!!' She screamed as her muscles all surged at once, shredding her clothes like tissue paper. Her biceps ripped free of the constraining sleeves, her back bulked up, a tear forming down the center. Her bust swelled magnificently, destroying the front of her shirt. Titanic thighs blew out the seams of her pants, and her calves pushed through the comparatively fragile fabric.
As the change continue to rampage through her body, she was dimly aware that she was already much larger than she had originally accounted for, and still growing. Leaning against the table as her body continued to be assaulted by the serum, only one thought was able to cross the fog of her mind, 'How big am I going to get?'
